BenQ is recalling its GV31 portable projector because the built-in lithium-ion battery can overheat, creating a serious risk of fire and burns that could cause injury or death. Stop using this projector right away.

What is recalled

BenQ GV31 portable projector (model GV31). It is a white, circular projector measuring about 5.2 by 8 by 7.5 inches and weighing about 3.7 pounds. It sits on a gray base and has a built-in speaker, a carrying strap, a lens, and control buttons on top. It was sold with a remote control. The brand name and model number are printed on a label on the underside of the gray base.

You are affected if you own a BenQ portable projector with the model number GV31. Flip the projector over and check the label on the underside of the gray base for the brand name "BenQ" and model number "GV31".

What to do right now

Stop using the projector immediately. Contact BenQ for a free battery repair or a replacement projector, with free shipping both ways. Register your unit at benq.com/en-us/support/gv31recall.html to receive a prepaid return label and packaging. Do not throw the projector or its battery in the trash, curbside recycling, or used-battery drop boxes at retail stores.
