2025 BMW 430I, 2025 BMW 430I XDRIVE, 2025 BMW X3: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:STARTER ASSEMBLY

BMW is recalling certain 2025 3 Series, 4 Series, 5 Series, and X3 vehicles because the electrical connection between the starter-generator and battery may come loose. A loose connection can cause the engine to stall or the wiring to overheat, raising the risk of a crash or a fire.

What is recalled

Certain 2025 BMW vehicles, including the 330i, 330i xDrive, 530i, 530i xDrive, 4 Series Coupe (430i, 430i xDrive), 4 Series Convertible (430i, 430i xDrive), 4 Series Gran Coupe (430i, 430i xDrive), and X3 30 xDrive. All are model year 2025. See NHTSA recall ID 25V202000 for the full VIN range.

What to do right now

Take your vehicle to a BMW dealer, where they will inspect and replace the starter-generator and positive battery cable as needed, free of charge. BMW began mailing interim owner letters on May 28, 2025, with a second notice to follow when the full remedy is available.
