BMW is recalling a wide range of vehicles because the engine starter can overheat and catch fire due to wear on an internal part. A fire in your engine bay puts you and others at serious risk of injury.

What is recalled
Certain BMW and Toyota vehicles, specifically: 2023 to 2024 Toyota Supra, 2022 to 2025 BMW 2 Series Coupe, 2021 to 2023 BMW 5 Series, 2022 to 2026 BMW Z4, 2023 to 2024 BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe, 4 Series Convertible, and 4 Series Coupe, 2023 to 2024 BMW 3 Series, 2021 to 2025 BMW X4, and 2021 to 2024 BMW X3. What to do right now
Take your vehicle to a BMW or Toyota dealer to have the engine starter replaced free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on August 28, 2026.
