BMW is recalling certain 2022 to 2025 i4, 2022 to 2024 iX, 2023 to 2024 i7, and 2024 i5 vehicles because the electric drive motor software may unexpectedly shut down the high-voltage system, causing a sudden loss of drive power and increased crash risk.

2022 to 2025 BMW i4 eDrive40, 2022 to 2024 BMW iX, 2023 to 2024 BMW i7, and 2024 BMW i5 vehicles equipped with the affected electric drive motor software.

Contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417 to schedule a free over-the-air (OTA) software update or dealer appointment. A notification letter will be mailed August 5, 2025. Do not delay, a loss of drive power while driving increases crash risk.
