2025 BMW M 1000 XR: STEERING

BMW is recalling certain 2024 to 2025 M 1000 XR and M 1000 R motorcycles because a loose valve pin inside the steering damper can suddenly make steering much harder to turn. That loss of steering control raises the risk of a crash.

What is recalled

2024 and 2025 BMW M 1000 XR and M 1000 R motorcycles. The recall is identified by NHTSA recall ID 25V194000. The affected vehicles were manufactured by BMW of North America, LLC.

You are affected if you own a 2024 or 2025 BMW M 1000 XR or M 1000 R motorcycle. Check the model year and model name on your title, registration, or the bike's VIN plate. If you are unsure, contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417 with your VIN ready.

What to do right now

Take your motorcycle to a BMW dealer, they will replace the steering damper free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 5, 2025. If you have not received a letter or want to confirm your bike is included, call BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
