Vibration in certain 2024 and 2020-2026 BMW S 1000 RR motorcycles can damage the ignition lock, causing the engine to stall or electrical systems like ABS and the instrument display to fail while riding. This increases crash risk.

2024 S 1000 RR US and 2020-2026 S 1000 RR motorcycles built by BMW of North America, LLC.

Am I affected

You are affected if you own a 2024 S 1000 RR US or a 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, or 2026 S 1000 RR motorcycle. Check your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on NHTSA.gov starting September 14, 2026 to confirm your motorcycle is included.

What to do right now

Stop riding the motorcycle if you experience engine stalling, loss of instrument display, loss of rear lighting, or ABS failure. Contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417. A repair will be available and BMW will mail instructions to your address once the remedy is ready.
