BMW is recalling certain 2025 3 Series, 4 Series, 5 Series, and X3 vehicles because the electrical connection between the starter-generator and battery can come loose. This can cause the engine to stall or the wiring to overheat, raising the risk of a crash or a fire.

What is recalled

Certain 2025 BMW vehicles, including: 330i, 330i xDrive; 530i, 530i xDrive; 4 Series Coupe (430i, 430i xDrive); 4 Series Convertible (430i, 430i xDrive); 4 Series Gran Coupe (430i, 430i xDrive); and X3 30 xDrive. Recalled by BMW of North America, LLC. NHTSA recall ID: 25V202000.

Am I affected

You're affected if you own a 2025 BMW from the following model lines: 330i or 330i xDrive; 530i or 530i xDrive; 430i or 430i xDrive in Coupe, Convertible, or Gran Coupe body styles; or X3 30 xDrive. What to do right now

Take your vehicle to a BMW dealer for a free inspection and replacement of the starter-generator and positive battery cable as needed. Interim owner notification letters were mailed May 28, 2025; a second letter will follow once the full remedy is available. The hazard
