2026 BMW X1, 2026 BMW X2: SEAT BELTS:REAR/OTHER:RETRACTOR

The rear seat belt retractors in certain 2026 BMW X1, X2, 2 Series Gran Coupe, and Mini Countryman S ALL4 vehicles may not lock properly during a crash due to damage to the retractor housing pin. This could allow an occupant to be thrown forward and seriously injured.

What is recalled

2026 BMW X1, 2026 BMW X2, 2026 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe, and 2026 Mini Countryman S ALL4 vehicles. The rear (left and/or right) seat belt retractors are affected. Check your VIN on NHTSA.gov (searchable since December 12, 2025) to confirm if your vehicle is included.

Contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417 to schedule a free replacement of your rear seat belts. Dealers will perform this service at no charge. You should have received an owner notification letter mailed December 18, 2025.
