2020-2027 Ford Explorer Aviator Seat Recall
2025 FORD EXPLORER: SEATS:MID/REAR ASSEMBLY
Updated July 14, 2026
Ford is recalling certain 2020-2027 Aviator and 2020-2026 Explorer vehicles because the switch for the second-row outer seats may stick or bind, causing the seats to unexpectedly unlatch, tip, or slide. A moving seat may not properly restrain an occupant during a crash, raising the risk of injury.
Is the Ford Motor Company recalled? Yes. This product was recalled by NHTSA on July 14, 2026. Details below.
What is recalled
2020-2027 Lincoln Aviator and 2020-2026 Ford Explorer vehicles with easy-entry second-row outer seats. Check your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) at NHTSA.gov using recall number 26V451 to confirm whether your vehicle is affected.
Am I affected
You're affected if you own a 2020-2027 Lincoln Aviator or 2020-2026 Ford Explorer and your vehicle has an easy-entry second-row outer seat. Search your VIN at NHTSA.gov with recall number 26V451 to confirm.
What to do right now
Contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 or wait for a notification letter from Ford (expected January 2027). When the remedy becomes available, Ford will inspect and replace the switch bezel at no charge. In the meantime, avoid using the second-row outer seats if the switch feels sticky or difficult to operate.
