Ford F-150, F-Series & Expedition Trailer Brake Recall
2026 FORD F-550 SD, 2026 FORD F-350 SD, 2026 FORD F-450 SD and more: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INTEGRATED TRAILER BRAKE CONTROL
Updated February 20, 2026
Ford is recalling certain 2021 to 2027 F-Series, Maverick, Ranger, Expedition, Lincoln Navigator, and E-Transit vehicles because a faulty integrated trailer module (ITRM) can lose communication with the vehicle while towing, potentially cutting trailer brake lights, turn signals, or trailer brakes entirely. Loss of trailer braking or visibility significantly increases the risk of a crash.
Is the Ford Motor Company recalled? Yes. This product was recalled by NHTSA on February 20, 2026. Details below.
What is recalled
Ford and Lincoln vehicles across these model years and nameplates: 2021 to 2026 F-150; 2022 to 2026 F-250 SD, F-350 SD, F-450 SD, F-550 SD, and Maverick; 2024 to 2026 Ranger; 2023 to 2026 F-600 SD; 2022 to 2027 Lincoln Navigator and Ford Expedition; and 2026 E-Transit. Ford's recall number is 26C10.
Am I affected
You're affected if you own one of the following Ford or Lincoln vehicles: a 2021 to 2026 F-150; a 2022 to 2026 F-250 SD, F-350 SD, F-450 SD, F-550 SD, or Maverick; a 2024 to 2026 Ranger; a 2023 to 2026 F-600 SD; a 2022 to 2027 Lincoln Navigator or Ford Expedition; or a 2026 E-Transit. To confirm whether your specific vehicle is included, check your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on NHTSA.gov (searchable from March 17, 2026) or contact Ford at 1-866-436-7332 and reference recall number 26C10.
What to do right now
Take your vehicle to a Ford dealer for a free integrated trailer module (ITRM) software update, or, if your vehicle is eligible, the update may be delivered automatically as an over-the-air (OTA) update. Do not tow a trailer until the fix is applied, as trailer brakes and lights may fail without warning. Ford mailed owner notification letters on March 25, 2026. Contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and reference recall number 26C10 to schedule your repair or confirm eligibility.

The hazard
Trailer lights or brakes that do not function can reduce the driver’s ability to control the trailer and decrease the trailers visibility to other road users, increasing the risk of a crash.
