Galanz Americas Recalls Retro Refrigerators Due to Risk of Serious Injury or Death from Fire and Burn Hazards; One Death Reported

Galanz is recalling certain retro-style refrigerators because internal electrical components can short circuit and catch fire, posing a serious risk of injury or death. One death has already been reported.

What is recalled

Galanz retro-style refrigerators (7.6 cu. ft.) sold in black, blue, red, and white, measuring about 58 inches high, 24 inches deep, and 21 inches wide. Only units with a date code between December 2018 and December 2020 (printed in YYYYMM format) AND one of these model numbers are included: BCD-215V-62H, GLR76TRDER, GLR76TBKER, GLR76TBEER, or GLR76TWEER. The brand name, model number, and date code appear on a white label in the upper left corner on the back of the unit.

Am I affected

You're affected if your Galanz retro refrigerator has ALL of the following: (1) a model number of BCD-215V-62H, GLR76TRDER, GLR76TBKER, GLR76TBEER, or GLR76TWEER, AND (2) a date code between 201812 and 202012 (YYYYMM format). Check the white label on the upper left corner of the back of the unit for both the model number and date code.
