Greenworks Tools Recalls 24V and 48V Kobalt Yard Power Tools with USB-C Batteries Due to Risk of Serious Injury from Fire Hazard

Greenworks Tools is recalling Kobalt 24V and 48V yard power tools and batteries that have a USB-C charging port. Charging the lithium-ion battery through the USB-C port while it is still inserted in the tool can cause a short-circuit, creating a serious fire hazard.

What is recalled
Kobalt-branded yard power tools and batteries with a USB-C charging port, sold as kits or separately. Affected tools include trimmers, blowers, mowers, chainsaws, pruning saws, a power cleaner, and a bristle brush. Recalled model numbers: Combo kits: KOC 1024-06, KOC 4248-06 Blowers: KHB 2524-06, KHB 324-06, KHB 4248-06, KHB 6048-06 Trimmers: KST 1224-06, KST 2024-06, KMS 3248-06, KMS 1524-06 Mowers: KM 4224A-06, KM 5224A-06, KMS 6224A-06, KMSD 8224A-06 Chainsaws: KCS 4224-06, KCS 1448-06 Pruning saw: KMCS 2024-06 Power cleaner: KPC 3024-06 Bristle brush: KABK 3265-06 Batteries (sold separately): KB 324-06 (3.0Ah), KB 624-06 (6.0Ah), KB 324D-06 (3.0Ah 2-pack), KB 624D-06 (6.0Ah 2-pack) Only products with a USB-C charging port on the battery are included. Batteries come in 3.0Ah, 4.0Ah, 5.0Ah, 6.0Ah, and 8.0Ah sizes.

You are affected if you own any Kobalt 24V or 48V yard power tool or battery whose battery has a USB-C charging port. Check the battery for a USB-C port, then match your model number against the list above (for example KHB 324-06, KM 4224A-06, KB 324-06, etc.). If your battery has a USB-C port and the model number matches, stop charging through that port immediately.

Stop charging the battery through the USB-C port while it is inserted in the tool right now.
