Hyundai IONIQ 5 N Brake Software Recall 2025

2025 HYUNDAI IONIQ 5: SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:POWER ASSIST:ELECTRIC:CONTROL MODULE:SOFTWARE

Updated February 6, 2025

Certain 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 "N" vehicles are being recalled because a software flaw in the braking and vehicle control systems can reduce braking performance when the left-foot braking feature is active. Longer stopping distances mean a significantly higher risk of a crash.

Is the Hyundai Motor America recalled? Yes. This product was recalled by NHTSA on February 6, 2025. Details below.

What is recalled

2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 "N" vehicles equipped with the left-foot braking (LFB) feature. The recall covers vehicles with integrated electronic brake (IEB) and vehicle control unit (VCU) software that may cause reduced braking performance. NHTSA recall number: 25V-065 (superseded by 25V-235). Hyundai's internal recall number: 275.

Am I affected

You're affected if you own a 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 "N" that has the left-foot braking (LFB) feature. Check your vehicle documents or contact Hyundai to confirm whether your VIN is included. Note: this recall (25V-065) has been replaced by NHTSA recall 25V-235, so even if your vehicle was already repaired under 25V-065, you will need the updated remedy completed.

What to do right now

Do not use the left-foot braking (LFB) feature until your dealer updates the software. If your vehicle was already repaired under the earlier recall (25V-065), also avoid using the "N" E-shift feature until the updated fix is performed. Take your vehicle to a Hyundai dealer for a free IEB and VCU software update. Owner letters were mailed March 12, 2025. Contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460 with questions.
