A software error may cause the instrument panel display to fail in certain 2025 to 2026 Kia vehicles, blocking critical safety information like the speedometer, tire pressure, and warning lights. This increases the risk of a crash. Kia will fix it with a free software update.

2025 Kia K4; 2025 to 2026 Kia Sorento, Sorento Hybrid, Sorento Plug-In Hybrid Electric (PHEV); 2026 Kia Sportage, Sportage Hybrid, Sportage PHEV, K5, EV9, Carnival, and Carnival Hybrid.

You're affected if you own a 2025 Kia K4 or a 2025 to 2026 Sorento, Sorento Hybrid, Sorento PHEV, or any of these 2026 models: Sportage, Sportage Hybrid, Sportage PHEV, K5, EV9, Carnival, or Carnival Hybrid. Check your VIN on NHTSA.gov starting February 9, 2026, or contact Kia Customer Service for confirmation.

What to do right now

Wait for your owner notification letter (mailing March 26, 2026). Kia will update your instrument panel software for free, either over-the-air or at a dealer.
