About 1.5 million OCOOPA rechargeable hand warmers are being recalled because the built-in lithium-ion battery can overheat and catch fire, posing a serious risk of burns or death. One death has already been reported.

What is recalled
OCOOPA-branded rechargeable lithium-ion hand warmers in the following models: UT3053, UT3056, ZLS-118, ZLS-118S, ZLS-118D, H01, and H01(PD). These are dual-sided warmers with a USB-C charging port, LED indicator lights on a hard plastic shell, and a silicone lanyard. They were sold in various colors and designs, in two-packs that magnetically join together, and came with a charging cable. "OCOOPA" is printed on the top of the unit and on the packaging. The model number and a three-digit batch number are printed on the underside of each hand warmer.
Am I affected
You're affected if you own an OCOOPA rechargeable hand warmer with one of these model numbers printed on its underside: UT3053, UT3056, ZLS-118, ZLS-118S, ZLS-118D, H01, or H01(PD). Flip the unit over and check for the model number and a three-digit batch number. If either appears, stop using the product immediately.
What to do right now
Stop using the hand warmer right now. To get a full refund (as an OCOOPA gift card or your original payment method), write "RECALLED" in permanent marker on the unit, then submit a photo showing that marking along with the model number and three-digit batch number at ocoopa.com/pages/product-recalls. You can also email [email protected] or visit ocoopa.com and click "Product Recall" at the top of the page. Do not throw the unit in the regular trash, curbside recycling, or used-battery drop boxes at retail stores. Because the battery is defective, it must go to a municipal household hazardous waste (HHW) collection center. Call your HHW center before you go to confirm it accepts defective lithium-ion batteries. If it does not, contact your local municipality for guidance.
