OCTROT electric heated sherpa throws and blankets are being recalled because the electrical cord can detach and catch fire, creating a serious risk of fire, burns, and electric shock that could cause serious injury or death.

What is recalled

OCTROT-branded electric heated sherpa throws and blankets, sold on Amazon, in the following models: OCT-5060, OCT-5062, OCT-6248, OCT-7284, and OCT-8490. Available colors were gray and yellow, white with gray, white with yellow, white with blue, and white with red. Sizes sold: 50x62 inches, 50x60 inches, 62x84 inches, 64x84 inches, and 84x90 inches. Each product has a white controller with five temperature settings; the controller cord has two or four small holes at the lower connection point. The model number and brand are printed on the product packaging.

Am I affected

You're affected if you own an OCTROT electric heated throw or blanket with one of these model numbers printed on the packaging: OCT-5060, OCT-5062, OCT-6248, OCT-7284, or OCT-8490. Check the white controller: if the cord has two or four small holes at the lower connection point where it meets the controller, this recall applies to you.

What to do right now

Stop using the throw or blanket immediately. To get a full refund, contact OCTROT, then destroy the product by unplugging the cord and cutting it in half.
