ProRider Recalls Bicycle Helmets Due to Risk of Serious Injury or Death from Head Injury; Violates Mandatory Standard for Bicycle Helmets

ProRider has recalled several models of bicycle helmets, including Economy, BMX, and Toddler helmets, because they fail to meet the mandatory federal safety standard for bicycle helmets. In a crash, these helmets may not protect your head, creating a serious risk of severe injury or death.

What is recalled
ProRider bicycle helmets in the following models, sizes, manufacture dates, and serial numbers, sold in blue, green, red, black, and purple: • **BG-W/10BICYCLE**, Economy Bicycle Helmet - S/M, manufactured 12/2022, serials 00158202 and 00158287 - L/XL, manufactured 01/2022 (date code 44652), serials 00094738 and 00094811 • **BG-14BICYCLE**, Bike Helmet with Turn Ring - S/M, manufactured 12/2022, serials 00141944 and 00140406 - L/XL, manufactured 03/2022 (date code 44835), serials 00134699 and 00134652 • **BG-14BICYCLE**, Bike Helmet Black Foam - L/XL, manufactured 12/2022, serial 145398 • **SPORT HELMET**, BMX Helmet - XS, manufactured 09/2022, serial 127689 • **BM-5TODDLER**, Toddler Bike Helmet - XXS, manufactured 09/2022, no serial number Check the label inside your helmet for the model number, manufacture date (MM/YYYY), and serial number.
Am I affected
You're affected if you own a ProRider helmet whose label inside the helmet shows one of these model numbers: BG-W/10BICYCLE, BG-14BICYCLE, SPORT HELMET, or BM-5TODDLER, AND the manufacture date and serial number match the combinations listed above. If the helmet has no serial number and is a BM-5TODDLER size XXS made in 09/2022, it is also included in the recall.
What to do right now
Stop using the helmet immediately, do not let anyone wear it. Destroy it by cutting the straps, then photograph the destroyed helmet and email the photo to [email protected] to receive a full refund. The hazard
The recalled helmets violate the mandatory safety standard for bicycle helmets because the helmets do not comply with the impact attenuation, positional stability, labeling and certification requirements. The helmets can fail to protect the user in the event of a crash, posing a serious risk of injury or death due to head injury.
