Rowenta Recalls Cordless Vacuum Cleaners Due to Risk of Serious Injury from Fire and Burn Hazards

Rowenta is recalling the lithium-ion batteries used in its X-Force Flex 14.60 and 15.60 Animal cordless vacuum cleaners because the battery can overheat and catch fire, posing a serious risk of fire and burns. The batteries were sold both separately and packaged with the vacuums.

What is recalled
Rowenta X-Force Flex cordless vacuum cleaners and their lithium-ion batteries, sold in red, black, and silver. Two vacuum models are included: X-Force Flex 14.60 Animal (model number RH99A2U1) and X-Force Flex 15.60 Animal (model number RH99F2U1). The recalled battery is the Versatile X-Force lithium-ion battery, model number ZR0097U2, with a date code beginning with either 23 or 24. The batteries were sold separately or bundled with the vacuums.
Am I affected
You're affected if you own a Rowenta X-Force Flex 14.60 Animal (model RH99A2U1) or X-Force Flex 15.60 Animal (model RH99F2U1) cordless vacuum, or if you purchased the Versatile X-Force battery separately. Check the battery model number: it must read ZR0097U2. Then check the date code printed on the battery: if it starts with 23 or 24, your battery is recalled.
What to do right now
Stop using the vacuum immediately and remove the recalled battery from the handle. Register for the recall at https://www.rowentausa.com/recall-campaign-xforce. You will need to upload a photo of the battery's model number and date code. Once verified, Rowenta will send you a free replacement battery at no cost. Do not throw the old battery in the trash, curbside recycling, or standard used-battery collection boxes. Contact your local municipal household hazardous waste (HHW) center before bringing it in, as disposal rules vary.
