The rear wheel bolts on certain 2026 Trek FX+ and Electra Townie Go! electric bicycles can break, causing the wheel to separate and throwing the rider off the bike. Stop using these bicycles immediately and get the bolts replaced for free.

What is recalled
Model year 2026 Trek FX+ 1 Midstep, FX+ 1S Midstep, FX+ 1 Stepover, FX+ 1S Stepover electric bicycles, and Electra Townie Go! Step Thru and Townie Go! S Step Thru electric bicycles sold before October 28, 2025. The recalled bicycles have black rear wheel bolts connecting the motor to the rear frame. Trek bicycles have "TREK" on the downtube and "FX+" on the top tube. Electra bicycles have "townie" on the downtube, "electra" on the seat stay, and "go!" on the chain guard.
Am I affected
You're affected if you own a model year 2026 Trek FX+ 1 or FX+ 1S (Midstep or Stepover) or an Electra Townie Go! electric bicycle (Step Thru or S Step Thru) purchased before October 28, 2025, and the rear wheel bolts connecting the motor to the frame are black.
What to do right now
Stop using the bicycle immediately. Contact an authorized Trek or Electra dealer to schedule a free repair. Find your nearest dealer at https://www.trekbikes.com/us/en_US/store-finder/. You can also call Trek at 800-373-4594 (Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. CT) or visit https://www.trekbikes.com/us/en_US/ and click "Recalls" for more information. The dealer will replace your black rear wheel bolts with new silver bolts at no cost, plus you'll receive a $10 in-store credit valid through December 31, 2026.
