Volkswagen is recalling certain 2023 to 2025 ID.4 electric vehicles because the high-voltage battery can overheat, raising the risk of a fire. Dealers will update the battery software and replace the battery if needed, at no cost to you.

Certain 2023, 2024, and 2025 Volkswagen ID.4 electric vehicles. Volkswagen's internal recall reference number is 93EA. Check whether your specific VIN is included by searching at NHTSA.gov (VINs became searchable on January 23, 2026).

Take your ID.4 to a Volkswagen dealer for a free high-voltage battery software update, and a battery replacement if needed. Owner notification letters were mailed March 18, 2026.
