Volkswagen is recalling certain 2025 and 2026 Jetta vehicles because the transmission ground wire may not have been properly connected during assembly. A loose or open connection can draw excess electrical current and increase the risk of a fire.

Certain 2025 and 2026 Volkswagen Jetta vehicles. Volkswagen's internal recall number is 97TC. You can check whether your specific Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is included at NHTSA.gov (VINs became searchable on March 13, 2026).

What to do right now

Take your Jetta to a Volkswagen dealer to have the transmission ground wire inspected and repaired at no charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 31, 2026.
