Yamaha Recalls Model Year 2021-2022 Fleet Golf Cars Due to Risk of Serious Injury or Death from a Crash Hazard

Yamaha is recalling model year 2021 and 2022 Drive2 Electric Fleet Golf Cars because the passenger-side brake cable may have been misrouted during assembly. A misrouted cable can wear through and break while the car is moving, creating a serious crash risk that could cause severe injury or death.

What is recalled
Model year 2021 and 2022 Yamaha Drive2 Electric Fleet Golf Cars, sold in mica (gold), arctic drift (blue), moonstone (gray), carbon (dark gray), bluestone, garnet (red), emerald (green), sunstone (yellow), and glacier (white). Affected model names and model years: 2021 JOJ Drive2 AC-L, 2022 JOJ Drive2 AC-L, and 2022 J5B Drive2 AC-L Li. The serial number is located underneath the seat on the frame of the unit.
Am I affected
You're affected if you own or operate a 2021 or 2022 Yamaha Drive2 Electric Fleet Golf Car with one of these model names: JOJ Drive2 AC-L (2021 or 2022) or J5B Drive2 AC-L Li (2022). Check the serial number plate underneath the seat on the frame. If you can't locate the serial number, Yamaha can help you find it.
What to do right now
Stop using the golf car immediately. Contact an authorized Yamaha Golf Car dealer to schedule a free inspection of the passenger-side brake cable routing. If the cable was misrouted, the dealer will replace it at no charge. If you can't bring the golf car to a dealer, the dealer can arrange transportation or come to the golf car's location to inspect and, if needed, replace the cable. The hazard
The recalled golf cars' passenger-side brake cable could have been misrouted during assembly. If the cable was misrouted, abnormal wear can occur which can cause the passenger-side cable to break during use, posing a risk of serious injury or death from a crash hazard.
